The pnuemonia vaccination can be given all year round but is only available to patients who are 65 years and over or suffer from certain conditions, including:
- Chronic respiratory disease
- Chronic heart disease
- Chronic renal disease
- Chronic liver disease
- Removal of spleen or dysfunction of the spleen
- Diagnosed as having a poor immune system
With the exception of those patients without spleens, the pneumonia vaccination usually only needs to be given once in a lifetime.
